Prosthetics

-Prosthetics are artificial extensions of a missing limb.

-Prosthetics are designed to mimic an actual limb.  This can go as far as replicating freckles, hair, and skin tone.

-Prosthetic Limbs are filled with sensory technology that works like the body's nervous system.

-Physical Therapists who specialize in this field are training specifically in Prosthetics. Either they have witnessed the production of prosthetics first hand or have great experience in their field of focus.

-In therapy sessions, the patient learns to adapt to their new limb. Exercises involve strengthening and utilization of the limb in order for the patient to adjust. Also, these exercises give the body a chance to accept the new limb.
