Team History
The University of
Hartford Human Powered Vehicle team was started in the fall of 2005
after some student interest. During the fall of 2005, and into
the early winter, many different designs were considered, including
standard recumbent seating positions, and an innovation "Superman" face
first position. The "Superman" design was ultimatly built, using push pedals and a linear drive system, combined with an electrical motor that could be used during hill climbs and other difficult biking conditions. Most of the vehicle was built during March and April 2006, at United Tool & Die in West Hartford, CT. They were greatly helpful in their welding, tube bending, and heat treating services. ![]() ![]() Views of last year's nearly-finished vehicle
