A project funded by Boston Dynamic,
an army research laboratory, the Big Dog is a new technology for the
army to transport gear for troops. The machine can carry up to 120 lbs,
climb 3.3 miles per hour, and is controlled by its own stereo vision or
through remote control. The Big Dog stands 2.3 feet tall, 165 lbs, and
is gasoline powered.
Recently bought by Google, the machine is being planned for commercial
use live delivery or as a door to door salesman. The effect would be
higher convenience to the online shopper but also a concern for privacy
of location and personal online history.
