Ousted in Second Half at Yale

NEW HAVEN, CT (March
29) The University of Hartford lacrosse team dropped a 21-7 decision
at Yale University on Tuesday night at Johnson Field.
Seth Goldberg led
the Bulldogs with four goals while junior Matt Holman led the Hawks with
a hat trick. Hartford dropped to 1-5 overall on the season while Yale
improved to 4-2.
Holman put the Hawks
up 1-0 less than two minutes into the contest, though Yale tied things
up just over a minute later. Hartford went up 2-1 behind a score from
Ryan Lynch at the 11:26 mark but then gave up five straight goals to go
down 6-2. Freshmen Will Volet and Ryan Curran ended the first-quarter
scoring with goals to bring the Hawks to within 6-4.
Yale outscored Hartford
4-1 in the second quarter, as Holman was the only Hawks player to find
the back of the net. The Bulldogs, who led 10-5 at the half, broke things
open in the second half. Yale scored the first eight goals of the second
half and outscored Hartford 11-2 over the final 30 minutes.
Yale outshot Hartford
43-35 for the game. Sophomore Franklin Pargh and freshman Alex Finkelman
shared time between the pipes for the Hawks. Pargh made five saves and
allowed 16 goals against 28 shots while Finkelman yielded five goals against
15 shots while making one save.
Hartford will play
its first home game of the season on Saturday, April 2 against UMBC at
4 p.m. The game will be held at Trinity College's Jessee/Miller Field,
which will serve as Hartford's home field for the 2005 season.
