Hawks Finish 19th in First Event of the Spring

CITRUS SPRINGS, FL (March 20) – The University of Hartford men’s golf team finished 19th in the field of 19 teams at the El Diablo Intercollegiate on Sunday at the El Diablo Golf and Country Club.

The tournament began with 36 holes on Saturday and concluded with 18 holes on Sunday. Oklahoma City University won the team title with a score of 896, besting Texas-San Antonio by 10 strokes. Hartford finished the tournament with a score of 1,014.

Sophomore Matt Burroughs led the Hawks with rounds of 84, 83 and 82 to finish tied for 85th overall at 249. Classmate Dustin Wetherup tied for 94th overall with a tournament total of 251. Other Hartford competitors: Freshman David Arnold (T-99th, 255), sophomore Jan Klikar (108th, 265) and junior Jim Reed (111th, 281).

Hartford will next compete at the George Washington Invitational on April 2-3.
