2000-2001: Johnson saw action in just 15 games last season,
starting one. He missed seven games after injuring his knee against
URI on December 30 and missed the last five games after injuring his
elbow against Hofstra on 2/11. In his 15 games last season he scored
double figures in six of them and averaged 7.7 points and 4.1 rebounds
per game. Matched his career-high with 18 points against Siena (12/5)
and recorded a season-high 11 rebounds against URI (12/30) where he
also scored 16 points to record a double-double.
1999-2000: Earned America East All-Rookie Team honors...in
two playoff games, scored 40 points with 11 rebounds and hit 18 ofhis
28 shots...scored a career-best 22 points in the playoff win over New
Hampshire (3/3)...recorded his third double-double of the season with
11 points and 10 rebounds against Towson (2/24)...hit two free throws
with 1:17 remaining in overtime against Towson to put the Hawks on top
to stay...also drew a charge with 1.7 seconds on the clock to preserve
the victory...had a strong trip to Boston (2/17-2/19), scoring 30 points
with 13 rebounds in the two games...logged his second double-double
of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds against UNH (2/3)...led
the team with nine rebounds in the Harvard win (1/31)...had 10 points
with eight rebounds at Vermont (1/29)...scored 13 points with five boards
against BU (1/21)...scored a team-high 15 points off the bench against
Drexel (1/14)...suffered an ankle injury midway through the Maine game
(1/8), causing him to miss the UNH game (1/10)...recorded his first
career double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds against Vermont
(1/4)...led the team with 15 points and eight rebounds in the Syracuse
game (12/29)...scored a career-best 18 points against Miami (12/11)...earned
America East Rookie of the Week honors (12/12).
At Duval H.S. (Seabrook, Md.): A 1999 graduate, where he lettered
in basketball for coach Artie Walker...a first team all-county and all-league
selection; was also named All-Metropolitan by the Washington Post...scored
over 1,000 career points with over 500 rebounds in his career...earned
team MVP honors as a senior averaging 24 points and 12 rebounds per
game...scored 42 points in the Maryland/Pennsylvania All Star Game...also
earned school's Tiger Award as the best athlete in the school.
