Why did you institute this plan?

The installation of chairs in the North Coaches Section for the 2002-03 season presented us with the need to figure out a way to assign seat locations. In addition, in order to establish the kind of success from our basketball programs that Hawks fans will come to expect, it is necessary to generate new revenue sources. Our programs need resources to be successful, and this plan is one way our supporters can make a difference.

How did you form the particulars of the program (categories, points allocations, etc.)?

Careful consideration was made when forming the Plan details. We first took a close look at similar plans that were in place at 14 different Division I institutions. Plans of this sort exist at many institutions across the country including schools within our own conference. Input was then solicited from the athletics staff and others from the University community. Once a draft of the Plan was written, it was reviewed, revised and approved by senior University officials.

How does this plan affect me?

It is unlikely that the application of this program will have a large impact on patrons in the short-term. The plan was introduced in order to put a process in place that will lead to long-term benefits for the athletics department.

Will I have the same seats as I've had in previous years?

Depending on where you fall in the points ranking, you may be able to choose a seat location very near to where you have been sitting.

Once I choose my seats this year, do I have first right of refusal for those same seats next year?

It depends where you fall in the points rankings. We will re-seat the house each year based on the receipt of ticket applications.

When selecting my seats for the upcoming season, will I be limited to certain seats in certain sections?

When it's your turn to select your seat, you may choose any seat(s) in any section.

I have been a season ticket holder since the Hawks entered the Division I ranks in 1984-85. Do I get credit for those years before 1989-90?

Unfortunately, we don't have verifiable records prior to the opening of The Sports Center.

I donate to different athletics teams and to different schools within the University. How will my donations be considered?

The cumulative total of University donations and cumulative total of athletics donations will be considered separately. When factoring University donations, donations to athletics will be included in the total. In essence, you will be given credit for donations to athletics twice.

How many seats may I purchase?

You may purchase as many as eight seats in 2003-04. The decision on number of seats that you may purchase in the future will be made on a year-by-year basis.

I have more than one season ticket. How is that factored into the points' calculations?

Credit is given for being a season ticket holder, not the number of tickets held.

I want to make sure I have tickets for the upcoming season. What do I do next and how do I choose my seats?

Fill out the season ticket application and send it to the Hawks' Box Office by October 3 (postmarked). Point totals will be calculated, seat assignments made (based on preferences indicated on the application) and seat confirmations sent throughout the month of October. Tickets will be mailed two weeks prior to the start of the regular season.

Will there be flexibility in years to come in how points are calculated and what items are being considered in the point total?

Long-term, consistency will be important to the success of The Plan. However, we're sure the system will evolve to some degree (partly through trial and error) in the years to come.
