James W. Fairfield-Sonn, Ph.D.


Dr. James W. Fairfield-Sonn is a Professor of Management at the University of Hartford. At the school he teaches courses in Leadership and Management, Managerial Skills, and Project and Process Management. His primary research interests center on understanding how corporate culture, technology and intergroup relations influence the quality and effectiveness of organizations. He has published the results of his findings in a recent book entitled, Corporate Culture and the Quality Organization as well as journals such as: Group and Organization Studies, Journal of Organizational Change Management, Managerial Finance, Journal of Small Business Management, and Public Personnel Management. During the last several years he has also lectured in England, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Sweden as well as throughout the United States.

Jim received his B.S. from  the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a M.S. from Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations and a Ph.D. from Yale. Among his honors to date are an Industrial and Labor Relations Fellowship from Cornell, an Olin Fellowship from Yale and listing in Who's Who in American Education. In addition, he was Chair of the Management Department from 1987-90 and Director of the Executive MBA program from 1993-95.
