Erin Striff is the Director of the Drama Minor, housed in the English Department. She is the editor of Performance Studies (Palgrave 2003) and has published on contemporary feminist theatre and performance in such journals as Women and Performance, The Journal of American Drama and Theatre and New England Theatre Review. She is the recipient of the Greenberg Grant, Coffin Grant, WELFund, Davis Grant and Cardin Research Fund. She was also selected as a faculty fellow in the University of Hartford Humanities Center’s 2008/2009 seminar. Striff received her B.A. in English and History from the University of Pennsylvania, spending her final year at Kings College, London. Her Ph.D is from Cardiff University; her dissertation is on feminist theatre. While teaching at the University of Glamorgan in Wales she wrote, directed and adapted plays, one of which was performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Since coming to the University of Hartford she has directed such productions as Halloween at the Grand-Guignol and Harold Pinter’s Mountain Language. Her current creative project is directing Wendy Kessleman’s My Sister in This House at the University of Hartford in fall 2008. She is currently writing an article on women competing in triathlons as performance. This is part of a larger research project on women, performance studies and contemporary culture.
