A record 57 attendees listen to President Walt Harrison
after enjoying the buffet lunch at the 1877 Club.


President Harrison gave the Emeriti an update on enrollment, campus improvements,
the new Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, the magnet high school
for science and engineering, and responded to questions.


Emeriti Association Co-Chair Virginia Hale conducted the business meeting,
during which EA former Chair Youssef Kouatly was presented with a plaque thanking
him for his years of service on the University's Benefits Task Force.


Emeriti Association Scholarship Committee Chair Ernie Gardow introduces
Academic Year 2009 Scholarship Awardee Carl Vogel, who is majoring in
Acoustic Engineering, and minoring in trombone performance.


Junior Carl Vogel thanked the Emeriti Association members for
awarding him the scholarship, discussed his academic studies and career goals,
and then had a special treat in store for the group.


Carl was joined by three other Hartt School trombonists to play a very lively
arrangement of Gliere's Russian Sailors' Dance. From left to right are:
Ronald Edwards, Matthew Russo, Carl Vogel and Matthew Visconti.

A record number of guests from the University joined us for lunch.
