Does Rap Influence teens in a negative way?

How rap music puts teens at risk
Back in the day rap music
was an expression of people. It involved dancing, grooving, and just having a
good time. The sugar hill gang was the first rap group to ever rap. Their style
of music started a trend that would go on to change the way people think about hip-hop
in this countries.
As
the years went on rap music became more expressive, it turned into feuds
between rival rap groups and/or rival artists. It became more of a contest to
see who had the better flow and who could sell more albums and win more fans
over. This soon turned into what we call in the industry today “beef.” Beef is
to have a grudge or to start one with another person. The famous rapper “50
cent” said it best, “you don’t want beef so don’t start none.”
As
the beef between rappers escalated, the fans soon started to get involved. They
began to start their own “beef” with one another. For example, if one person
liked nas and the other liked Jay-Z fights would
break out over who’s the better rapper. That is when rap started to have a
negative influence on teens. Soon after the rap related deaths began to pile up,
rap caused crime. Then from 1996-1997 the
deaths of two famous rappers occurred; Tupac Shakur
and Biggie Smalls. After these two tragedies
the violence in rap music declined for a couple of years.
Then
in 2002 the beef between 50
cent & Ja rule
started up. It just goes to prove that people didn’t learn from the horrific tragedy
of Tupac and Biggie smalls.
