Graduate Student Awards and Research Symposium

There are three scholarships offered exclusively to University of Hartford students majoring in Communication: The Ellen Abrams Memorial Scholarship, the Emile Gauvreau Scholarship, and The Pratt & Whitney Communication Scholarship. If you meet the criteria for any of these scholarships, you may be chosen by the School of Communication to receive one.

The Ellen Abrams Memorial Scholarship

This $1,500 scholarship is awarded annually to one deserving junior or senior Communication major chosen from among the eligible students. To be eligible for the Abrams Scholarship, you must:

Be a Communication major
Demonstrate financial need
Be entering your junior or senior year the following fall semester (The recipient is chosen in the spring.)

The Emile Gauvreau Scholarship

The amount of this award varies but is presented annually to one or more deserving Communication majors, typically juniors or seniors, selected from the pool of eligible students. To qualify you must:

Be a Communication major
Be from Connecticut

The Pratt & Whitney Communication Scholarship

This $2,500 award is given annually to two deserving Communication majors, one junior and one senior, chosen from among the eligible students. To be eligible for the Pratt & Whitney Scholarship, you must:

Be a Communication major
Have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
Be entering your junior or senior year the following fall semester (The recipients are chosen in the spring.)
Show an active interest in your chosen field through participation in student organizations, or through internships and volunteer work.
