Objectives

To ensure that our graduates:

  • Are prepared for the practice of engineering at a professional level.
  • Are prepared to succeed in graduate studies at the next level if they meet customary admission criteria.
  • Have an appreciation of the need for life-long learning in order to practice effectively.
  • Have the ability to work professionally in the major areas of civil engineering, structural, transportation, geotechnical and environmental, including design, analysis and realization of design.

To ensure that our faculty:

  • Are knowledgeable and competent to serve the needs of the program.
  • Contribute to the improvement of engineering education.
  • Participate in new and innovative approaches to engineering education.
  • Contribute to the educational development of students.
  • Develop professionally.
  • Interact with professional practitioners and public officials, and with employers of our graduates.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism.
  • Maintain currency in their specialty area and apply this knowledge to the upper-level professional program.
