Question:
What is a Bursar Account?
Answer: Each student that
attends the University of Hartford will have a financial
account with the Office of the Bursar. The student
account will include charges/payments for tuition and
fee charges, room and board charges, parking permits and
violations, as well as any miscellaneous fee as charged
by the University.
Question:
What is Electronic Billing?
Answer: Electronic Billing is also
referred to as e-billing. It is a convenient
and reliable alternative to paper bills. An e-mail notification
will be sent to your official University of
Hartford e-mail account when an e-bill is available for
viewing. You also have the ability to grant access
to view the e-bill and make an online payment to
authorized users. Each authorized person can
receive an e-mail notification when a new e-bill is
generated if their e-mail address is provided and
current.
The University of
Hartford has moved to e-billing to provide faster and
easier service to our students and their parents, guardians
and authorized third party payers. The vast majority of students and
parents are familiar and comfortable with the internet
culture. It has become commonplace to perform many
daily transactions and communications via e-mail and the
Internet. Many universities and institutions
around the country are using electronic billing as their
primary method of billing. In addition to
providing more efficient service, electronic billing
also results in time and monetary savings to the student
and University. E-bill is just one of the many
online processes at the University like registration,
grades, and class schedules.
Question:
When does e-billing take effect?
Answer: E-billing took effect
starting with the first bill for the Spring Semester.
Students and authorized payers received the first e-bill
notification on December 9th.
Question: What is
CASHNet?
Answer: CASHNet
is a vendor utilized by University of Hartford that
enables students to pay student account fees online.
Through CASHNet Self-Serve, students and authorized payers will
receive e-bills and make e-payments directly online.
This system eases the payment process by allowing
payments to be made at any time, from any location with
Internet access. It also gives you 24/7 real time
lookup of your account.
Question: Where can I go for further instructions regarding my
e-billing statement?
Answer: Students can sign onto
the Student Self Service Center and follow the CASHNet
link to log on and get information. Students will
need to set up the authorized payers. Once set up,
authorized payers will log onto the CASHNet site
directly by navigating to
https://commerce.cashnet.com/hartfordpay and view
the account or make an online payment. Students,
click here for detailed directions about
logging into the CASHNet site or
click here for quick directions about logging into
the CASHNet site. Parents,

CASHNet site.
Question:
When can I expect to receive my e-bill and when is my
payment due?
Answer: See
Billing
Schedule for the current
schedule of our billing and due dates. Students
and authorized payers will receive an e-mail
notification when the e-bill is ready to be viewed and
paid.
Question:
What happens if I do not pay on time because I didn't
open my electronic billing statement?
Answer:
See
Billing
Schedule for the current
schedule of our billing and due dates. Please note
that under rare circumstances this schedule may change.
E-mail notifications will be sent to
students through their University e-mail account or to authorized users at the e-mail
account provided at the time the user was added or
changed on the system.
Please remember
that the University of Hartford IS NOT
responsible for e-mail accounts that are listed
incorrectly, where the e-mail box is full or for any
other reason the e-mail has not been delivered.
Students and authorized users are able to check the
students' account online 24/7. We suggest that the
account is viewed periodically regardless of whether or
not an e-mail has been received.
Question:
Can I receive a paper bill instead of the e-bill?
Answer: All enrolled students will
receive an electronic billing statement. If you want a paper copy of
your bill, you can log into your account on the
Student Self-Service Center and navigate to the
CASHNet site to download and print a copy to mail to
the university or mail to the university's lockbox at
bank of America. Mailing addresses are located
on the last page of the bill. If a student does not have a printer,
they can print their bill at computer labs throughout
campus, at the library, or at the Student
Administrative Services Center (SASC). SASC has
a computer and printer available during regular
operating hours for registration and billing related
purposes. Visit the
SASC website for location and hour information. TOP
Question:
What types of payments are accepted?

accepts cash, personal checks, money order, or
traveler's checks in the Student Administrative
Services Center. Checks can also be mailed
directly to our bank by using the payment mailing
address provided on the last page of each statement. ECheck
(ACH) and
Credit Card payments can also be done online through the

Please note that we do not accept VISA card payments. There is no fee to make payment using e-check,
however credit card payments are made using CASHNet
SmartPay and will have a service charge of 2.75% of the
transaction amount.
Question:
Can I use my debit card to pay my bill?
Answer: You can use any debit card
with a MasterCard logo to pay you bill. However,
it will be processed as a credit card and will incur the
2.75% convenience fee. Daily limits may prevent
your card from being approved. Please note,
debit cards with a VISA logo are not accepted.
Question:
Do you accept credit cards and, if so, is there a fee
assessed for using one?
Answer: Credit card payments
can be made using CASHNet SmartPay. A processing
fee of 2.75% is added to the total payment.
MasterCard, Discover and American Express are accepted.
Please be advised that VISA is NOT accepted.
Question:
Why is Visa not accepted?
Answer: VISA's rules do not
permit the vendor to charge a standard percentage of
transactions as a convenience fee. VISA's policy
only allows vendors to charge a set transaction fee,
regardless of how much is charged on the card. We
don't accept VISA due to the varying payment amounts
that are charged. A large number of schools have
stopped accepting Visa cards for the same reason.
Question:
What is e-check or ACH?
Answer: The
University of Hartford allows students and authorized
users to make payment with e-check through the CASHNet
