Marketing

Overview

The Barney School offers a major in marketing for students aspiring to leadership positions in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. The marketing specialization includes courses in consumer behavior, marketing research, and marketing strategy and a wide range of elective courses. Elective courses may be taken in marketing communication, retailing and sales management.

Career tracks have been developed for students interested in pursuing careers in specialized areas of marketing, such as retail management and marketing communication. These concentrations designate specific courses to fulfill the elective segments of the marketing major. Other concentrations can be developed to meet specific student interests. All concentrations are developed through academic advising.

Marketing majors are encouraged to join the University of Hartford chapter of the American Marketing Association. This award-winning student organization offers a variety of activities, including a series of speakers, career-oriented programs, and student competition projects.
