Overview
The
Barney School offers a major in marketing for students
aspiring to leadership positions in the private, public,
and not-for-profit sectors. The marketing specialization
includes courses in consumer behavior, marketing research,
and marketing strategy and a wide range of elective
courses. Elective courses may be taken in marketing
communication, retailing and sales management.
Career
tracks have been developed for students interested in
pursuing careers in specialized areas of marketing,
such as retail management and marketing communication.
These concentrations designate specific courses to fulfill
the elective segments of the marketing major. Other
concentrations can be developed to meet specific student
interests. All concentrations are developed through
academic advising.
Marketing
majors are encouraged to join the University of Hartford
chapter of the American Marketing Association. This
award-winning student organization offers a variety
of activities, including a series of speakers, career-oriented
programs, and student competition projects.
