Dancing is something that people do just to have fun. For me, dancing is a way that I live my life. It is something I do every day and if I could I would do it all hours of the day. It is something that motivates me and has affected my life outside of the dance room.
I have been dancing for going on fourteen years and it’s been an interesting journey. It all started by me watching a dance class when I was almost 5 years old. The instructor asked me if I wanted to take classes and all I had to do was say yes. For the next 8 years I was taking dance classes in Hartford, CT. I studied all types of dance, but I fell in love with contemporary, hip-hop and jazz. I was able to spend 6 hours in the dance room and just dance; with no instruction or set goal. The music was something that spoke to me and I answered through dance.
Over the years, dance as given me opportunities that some people only dream of. I have been able to teach dance classes, travel the United States, and compete with some amazing people. My favorite part is being taught by some of the greats choreographers. Dance is a great way to express yourself and it has been my safe haven for years. I love it and it’s brought my great joy all throughout life and continues on into my college years.
